Position Description
Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a Quality Specialist who will support the Trenton facility by monitoring and improving our final products and processes in order to meet customers’ expectations and regulations. This position reports directly to the Trenton Quality Manager and will work directly with Customers to approve PPAP and APQP activities, perform audits and compliance checks, manage Non-Conformances and coordinate PPM reduction and improvement activities. This position interfaces with employees at all levels of the company and works with the APQP system to manage any changes to keep the Modine QMS in compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Quality activities with designated customers, coordinating projects to ensure Customer Requirements are met.
- Manage and understand GD&T requirements of products to comply with blue prints.
- Maintain documentation related to customer PPAP, non-conformances, cost of poor quality and all applicable QMS data.
- Conduct on-site Quality audits and assessments in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and VDA requirements.
- Lead the 8D system for any customer issues, non-conformances and audit findings; designating assignments and tracking due dates as required.
- Be knowledgeable of customer requirements and provide support to product groups and Modine personnel, ensuring flow-through of CSR’s
- Develop training of the requirements for Customer products to Modine team members, ensuring that product is built with CSR’s in mind.
- Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning APQP activities. Communicate special characteristics and capability expectations to the Modine team early in the product development process to ensure the internal processes are conforming product.
- Lead inspection and sorting teams both internal and external as needed in response to Non Conformances and/or other Quality issues.

Required Education & Qualifications
- High School Diploma with 1 to 3 years of experience in related field or disciplines.
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree or active engagement to obtain BS within a related technical discipline and/or 2-7 years of Quality or GD&T experience.
- Knowledgeable in AIAG Core Tools and ISO 9001 / IATF 16949.

- Experience in developing and implementing Quality Standards.
- Ability to lead others.
- Works with Customers to resolve nonconformances and problems using root cause analysis.
- Openly communicate improvements, needs and current state of NC’s to the plant.
- Working knowledge of disciplined problem solving methodologies such as 8D’s, 5 Why’s, Fishbone and Flow Diagrams.
- Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret blueprints and Customer requirements.
- IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 Auditor Certificate.
- Conduct QMS assessments and process audits.
- Takes initiative to evaluate new methods to improve efficiency.
- Anticipates future needs and initiates internal preparation accordingly.
- Uses initiative in project approaches and practical experience gained from past assignments to solve problems.
- Provides leadership and guidance to Application Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and the Manufacturing Plant on resolution of Customer quality issues.
- Accountable for coordinating multiple projects concurrently, working both with the plant and the corporate levels.
- In-depth understanding of all applicable products, processes, and applications is required.
- Aware of industry trends and plays a key role in future planning.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and/or ASQ Certified Quality Auditor a plus.
