Position Description
Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a Quality Engineer II who will support the Trenton facility with identifying, prioritizing, planning, implementing, and following-up on process improvements plant-wide. This person will ensure compliance with customers needs in an IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and evaluate quality systems, procedures, and statistical techniques needed to measure quality performance. This includes knowledge of specific inspection and testing equipment.
- Coordinate and assist in the formulation and introduction of new or changed processes and products including process FEMA’s, Advanced Quality Planning, dimensional and process control plans for production.
- Coordinate and complete the customer requirements and testing through the PPAP process.
- Establish, monitor, analyze, and report on major quality indicators (KPI’s). Develop improvement targets and lead plans to address and correct deficiencies.
- Support Modine customer base by providing first call support and acting as the Voice of the Customer in the facility.
- Assist in the identification, implementation, and use of statistical methods throughout the plant, and provide support to production where needed to solve quality issues.
- Keep Quality Manager abreast of any internal or customer related issues as they arise and assist in all areas as required.
- Lead the 8D system for any customer issues, designating assignments and tracking due dates as required.
- Lead inspection and containment efforts on site and at customer facilities for any nonconformances with product.
- Travel to customer facilities as needed, serving as the Quality rep for Modine and resolving product issues.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline with 2+ years of Quality experience.
- Proficient in knowledge of Core Tools and ISO 9001 / IATF 16949. Strong statistical, mathematical and problem solving skills a plus.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, mini-tab, and other SPC software. Experience with CMM operations and PC DMIS software a plus.
- Proficient in the use of the AIAG Tools:
- Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Control Plans
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
- Working knowledge of disciplined problem solving methodologies such as 8D’s, 5 Why’s, Fishbone and Flow Diagrams.
- Good time management and organizational skills to multitask over complex issues.
- Willingness to attend and pass training associated with Quality needs.
- Auditor certifications, or ability to pass and obtain certification for: ISO 9001, IATF 16949, Core Tools and other accreditations as needed to fulfil needs of Modine and its customers.
