Position Description
The Senior Manager, Advanced Materials Planning is responsible for leading and executing the advanced planning materials strategy for the Data Center vertical within the U.S. This role drives performance, efficiency, and profitability by developing robust supply chain strategies and optimizing materials management processes while reducing time to market for new products. The Senior Manager will provides leadership, structure, and guidance on long lead time materials planning while implementing best practices in New Product Introduction (NPI), inventory optimization, and logistics coordination. This role works with vertical leaders to establish an end-to-end strategy for long-term planning of business performance and operational execution, ensuring customer delivery and strong plant operational performance.
Remote Role: Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time, with an initial expectation of over 50% travel for the first 1-2 months.
Key Responsibilities
Materials Planning & Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and structured planning and organizational development process to accelerate the launch of NPIs across multiple plants.
- Align multi-plant materials planning processes with business objectives to improve profitability by driving logistics efficiency and successful NPI execution.
- Establish forecasting methodologies to ensure accurate demand planning and minimize supply chain disruptions.
Inventory & Supplier Management:
- Optimize inventory levels to balance production requirements with cost efficiency.
- Create and execute an end-to-end inventory management strategy and network optimization process that enables achievement of project growth targets with minimal obsolescence risk.
- Collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and critical parts.
- Implement supplier risk mitigation and performance tracking strategies to ensure supply continuity.
Logistics & Process Optimization:
- Lead a 3PL warehousing and logistics solution to streamline inbound and outbound material flow, reduce on-site manufacturing storage requirements and lower overall logistics cost.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles to enhance materials management efficiency.
- Develop KPIs and reporting structures to monitor materials planning performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership:
- Partner with manufacturing, procurement, engineering, and finance teams to align materials planning with production schedules and financial targets.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the materials planning team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive strategic initiatives for supply chain resilience, including risk assessment and alternative sourcing strategies.
Required Education & Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in materials planning and supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership experience in developing and executing materials planning strategies.
- 2+ years of experience with 3PL and external warehousing operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in supply planning and inventory optimization.
- 2+ years of experience in a program-based planning and inventory environment.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics tools.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong presentation and data visualization skills.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time, with an initial expectation of over 50% travel for the first 1-2 months.
