Position Description
The Senior Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of all physical facilities across multiple sites or a large, complex campus. This role ensures that buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and related services meet the needs of the organization efficiently, safely, and sustainably. The Senior Facilities Manager leads a team of facilities professionals, manages vendor relationships, and collaborates with senior leadership to align facilities operations with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Oversight
- Develop and implement long-term space and facilities strategies aligned with organizational growth and sustainability goals.
- Lead capital improvement projects, renovations, and space planning initiatives.
- Manage multi-site operations or large-scale facilities portfolios.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor facilities managers, maintenance staff, and contractors.
- Establish performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Prepare and manage annual facilities budgets, including forecasting and cost control.
- Negotiate and oversee contracts with vendors for maintenance, security, cleaning, and other services.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including OSHA, ADA, and environmental standards.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response planning for facilities.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and ensure timely repairs.
- Implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Utilize facilities management software and data analytics to drive decision-making.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in facilities management, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing large-scale or multi-site facilities.
- Strong knowledge of industrial real estate leasing and contracting, building systems, construction, safety regulations, and sustainability practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
