Position Description

The Vice President, General Manager - Modular Data Center business will serve hyperscale, colocation, and edge data center customers globally, with initial focus on North America.  Modular solutions will include prefabricated, scalable infrastructure for IT and cooling systems, manufactured across a global footprint. The business will leverage intercompany capabilities and strategic partnerships to deliver integrated, regionally optimized solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership
    • Build and scale the organization from startup phase to maturity, navigating challenges such as talent acquisition, market entry, supply chain setup, and brand development.
    • Promote a culture of innovation, trust, and accountability. Act as a leader, coach, and mentor to strengthen the team’s capabilities and fill gaps in talent or skills.
    • Prepare and present annual sales, operating, and strategic plans to executive leadership.
    • Influence and align priorities across functions to accelerate growth and execution.
    • Navigate ambiguity and rapid change while building foundational systems, processes, and culture.
    • Build a high-performing team and apply 80/20 principles to drive focus, agility, and execution.
  • Launch New Vertical
    • Launch and scale the Modular Data Center (MDC) business as a new vertical, driving rapid growth in a dynamic and evolving market.
    • Lead the formation and growth of a new business unit, including recruiting and developing talent, go-to-market strategy, product portfolio development, and operational infrastructure.
    • Create a 3–5-year strategic roadmap to establish market leadership, define major initiatives, and allocate resources for sustainable hypergrowth.
    • Evaluate and prioritize new business opportunities to ensure alignment with profitability and strategic goal.
    • Include differentiated delivery model leveraging late-stage assembly (LSA) strategies.
    • Balance speed-to-market with long-term sustainability and profitability.
  • Business Development
    • Secure early customer wins and build strategic partnerships to establish market credibility.
    • Work collaboratively with existing sales tea while developing vertical specific sales organization to fuel growth of new vertical.
    • Evaluate the need for and then develop partnership to expand offer beyond cooling system and controls to power and other needs.
  • Products Management and Engineering
    • Manage resource constraints while prioritizing high-impact initiatives.
    • Develop and deliver technology and product roadmaps to accelerate growth beyond market CAGR.
  • Operations
    • Establish an optimal manufacturing and deployment footprint to support rapid scaling, regional responsiveness, and efficient use of capital with differentiation through LSA.
    • Develop scalable infrastructure to support exponential growth in demand and complexity Implement operational best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to drive profitable growth.
    • Develop and deliver the annual operating plan (AOP) for the global MDC business.
    • Implement operational best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to drive productivity and cost efficiency.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance.
  • 3–5 years of experience launching or scaling a new business or vertical, in data center infrastructure, modular construction, or high-growth technology sectors is a plus.
  • 5–7 years of experience in general management, in a high-growth environment preferred.
  • Proven leadership and change management skills; ability to build and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and financial acumen.
  • Experience in developing talent and building organizational capability.
  • Excellent communication skills—oral, written, and presentation.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

 

Travel:  Medium to high travel expected across North America and Europe to engage with customers, partners, and manufacturing sites. Light travel to Asia may be required as the business expands.

 

Reporting/Org:

  • Reports to the Data Center Group Vice President – Americas.
  • Member of the Americas executive leadership team; collaborates with other vertical Vice President/General Managers across the Data Center Vertical and the Climate Solutions segment enterprise.
  • Leads a cross-functional team with direct and indirect reports in Sales, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR as needed.
