Position Description
This position provides technical support for the Chemical and Metallurgical Laboratory. The individual will conduct and assist in routine and non-routine
analysis of complex and continually changing types of samples. The ability to work within and lead project teams and/or work independently is a necessity.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and material analysis (~75% of the time, typically) with some supervision.
- Conduct non-routine analysis (~25% of the time, typically) with supervision.
- Assist in material development projects.
- Independent operation of most instrumentation and beginning to perform preventative maintenance.
- Participate in work order meetings for routine analysis.
- Perform supplier approval analysis.
- Perform QC analysis of process chemicals and assist in issues with production.
- Develop the ability to spot abnormalities in samples and recognizes erroneous results in testing.
- Review new LP’s and perform a walk-through of the method for peer review.
- Generate formal reports with interpretation of data.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in chemistry or related field with 1 – 3 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in chemistry
- Collaborative problem solving capabilities
- Sound organizational and analytical skills
- Empowerment as a decision maker and able to think logically and independently
- Ability to work in detailed capacity and able to parallel process - coordinate multiple tasks concurrently
- Results oriented – expected to work independently with minimal direction
- Good interpersonal communication skills for interaction at multiple levels within the company, both oral and written.
- Proficient in standard MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
