Position Description

We are seeking a Customer Quality Specialist to support customer quality activities for Modine's Data Center Chiller business. This role partners closely with Customer Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Quality, Engineering, Service, and Operations teams to support customer satisfaction, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Customer Quality Specialist assists with customer complaint management, field quality concerns, corrective action tracking, quality reporting, and customer program support.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Quality Support

  • Support Customer Quality Engineers and Customer Quality Managers in managing assigned customer accounts.
  • Build effective working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in customer meetings, quality reviews, and program discussions.
  • Assist with customer-specific documentation, requests, and follow-up activities.
  • Support customer satisfaction initiatives through timely communication and issue resolution.

Issue Resolution & Corrective Action

  • Support customer complaint intake, containment, investigation, and closure activities.
  • Coordinate field response activities and repair scheduling with Factory Field Response Teams (FFRTs).
  • Assist in root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and Cause & Effect Analysis.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
  • Maintain action logs and provide status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support containment activities and customer recovery plans associated with quality escapes.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and report customer quality performance metrics.
  • Maintain customer scorecards, quality dashboards, warranty reports, and action trackers.
  • Analyze trends in customer complaints, field failures, warranty claims, and quality escapes.
  • Escalate recurring issues and emerging risks to Customer Quality leadership.
  • Support preparation of customer presentations and quality review materials.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support initiatives focused on improving product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in lessons-learned reviews and deployment of improvements across manufacturing sites.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Engineering, Service, and Operations teams to resolve customer concerns.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, and continuous improvement activities.

Help gather and organize data to support quality improvement projects

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, customer support, field service, or HVAC-related industries.
  • Basic understanding of structured problem-solving methodologies including 8D, PDCA, 5 Why, Pareto Analysis, and Cause & Effect Analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25-50%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
  • Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, chiller systems, or data center cooling products.
  • Experience supporting customer quality, field service, warranty, or technical service functions.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, corrective action processes, and customer complaint management.
  • Experience participating in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Basic knowledge of quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA.
