Position Description

The Data Architect II plays a crucial role in shaping the data strategy and ensuring that the organization’s data infrastructure supports its long-term goals. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking. The Senior Data Architect is responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of data management solutions. This senior role involves strategic planning of data architectures, leading a team of data professionals, and ensuring that data systems are aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and enforce data architecture standards, policies, and procedures
• Manage and guide a team of data modelers and analysts to meet project objectives
• Design and implement data solutions that support both functional and technical requirements
• Chair data architecture design governance forums and resolve design issues
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the application architecture utilizes the data assets effectively
• Partner with data governance groups and technical architects in selecting metadata tools
• Lead the design and exposure of data assets to the stakeholder community
• Design and maintain both physical and logical database models as per standards and future architecture requirements
• Collect and interpret business requirements to develop and document data models that satisfy those needs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build a new data platform, support their data needs, and provide thought leadership
• Experience with building data architecture for analytics solutions, structured, unstructured data management, machine learning, LLP/NLP
• Develop and deliver a Big Data and analytics roadmap, offering strategic direction and technical expertise to meet data architecture needs
• Ensure the accuracy and accessibility of data relevant to the organization or project
• Proficiency in database design (Concept Maps, ER Diagrams, etc.) and the transformation of data throughout its lifecycle (SQL, XML, etc.)
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical requirements effectively
• Exhibit advanced visualization skills and creative problem-solving abilities

Required Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 8+ years of proven experience in a data architect role with leadership responsibilities
• 8+ years of experience with data warehousing, lake formation, and data analytics systems with various database technologies including Microsoft
• Certifications such as AWS, TOGAF, MDM, SQL, MS, DFSS, GCP, CISSP, CDMP are advantageous
• Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies and data modeling tools
• Proficiency in Azure, or other cloud services
• Experience with big data orchestration and pipeline tools like Apache Airflow, Debezium, and Streamsets
• Expertise in Python and other programming languages
• Experience with various data warehousing databases including modern data lake and data lake house architectures using Microsoft and other industry toolsets
• Experience with structured and unstructured data architecture and management
