Position Description

With supervision, the Credit Intern will support the Accounts Receivable Team. This position is responsible for accuracy of cash entries, contacting customers when past due and reviewing customer credit information. This position contributes to the overall effectiveness of the Credit Dept.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer payments are received on time through account reconciliation on customer web sites and proactive review of invoice aging.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and perform clearings in SAP maintenance transactions.
  • Prepare and distribute customer statements.
  • Recommend customers for credit hold.
  • Manage the customer debit resolution process by proactively working with Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Warranty, Plant Personnel, and others as applicable.  This includes responsibility for pricing reconciliations to ensure amount owed and due is accurate and resolved.
  • Propose new customer credit limits and payment terms by analyzing credit worthiness and company stability through use of D&B reports, credit applications, purchase order reviews, and company financial statement analysis. 
  • Perform cash application and clearing entries daily.

Required Education & Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.
  • Prior internship or coursework in Accounting or Finance is a plus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Associate’s program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary.
  • SAP experience preferred.
