Position Description
Quality Specialist is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and proposing measures to correct or improve our final products and processes to meet established quality standards. The Quality Specialist will prepare and implement quality assurance policies and procedures and perform routine audits and quality systems analysis. They make recommendations for improvement of our existing quality system including the creation/revision of training materials and standard work documents. Ensures compliance with ISO 90001 certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and complete non-conformance requests (NCR’s), including investigation, communication with customer, disposition of product, approving and coordinating repairs, and initiating / investigating corrective action requests (CAR’s) if needed
- Coordinate and monitor “first article” coils through the process from receipt of materials through shipment of completed product
- Lead and coordinate root cause corrective action activities including 8D, A3 and other tools as required
- Lead and coordinate auditing program including internal and ISO 9001 requirements to ensure conformance with established procedures and work instructions.
- Document and maintain standard work instructions with focus on continuous improvement
- Trains employees on Quality procedures and work instructions to ensure internal and external quality standards are met
- Collect and compile statistical quality data and analyze to identify areas for improvement
- Manage calibration and life cycle of measurement system tools and gauges
- Maintain current electronic files on quality training, NCR’s, CAR’s, repair work, repair costs, etc. and assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual quality summary reports as needed
- Other quality-related and safety-related tasks or reporting as assigned by the Plant Manager
Required Education & Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, process/product specifications, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Understands statistical analysis tools.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or photo/video form. Excellent analytical skills.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong experience with spreadsheet software and word processing software.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
