Position Description

Take your talents to the next level and around the nation! Use your skills as an HVAC Field Service Technician working both remotely and in person. The right candidate is independent and enjoys getting their hands dirty as they work on new installations and performs preventative maintenance. You will be an important part of supporting customer relationships as the voice and face of CDI once our product leaves the facility.

Key Responsibilities

What you will be doing: 

  • Prepare for on-site installation by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work.
  • Travel to customer sites as required, ensuring startup and/or service happen promptly. (Approximately 25% overnight travel with a maximum of 50% in a month’s time.)
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair systems and products at customer's location.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance by telephone to address customers’ technical needs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed.
  • Keep current on all CDI products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
  • Stay abreast of changing technology in the industry and attend training as necessary to maintain technical competency on all CDI product lines.
  • Manage customer related issues on assigned projects to ensure highest levels of customer satisfaction and meet overall project objectives.
  • Conduct customer satisfaction follow up calls.

Expectations:

  • Skillfully use power tools and test equipment.
  • Work with sheet metal, miscellaneous hardware, and internal components such as fan motors, blowers and vent glass.
  • Explain technical information in common language to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as necessary.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and attitude.

Required Education & Qualifications

Required:

    • High School degree or equivalent.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of personal auto liability.
    • International travel may be rarely required, must either have or can acquire a valid passport.

Preferred:

    • Electrical coursework or prior experience as an Electrical Test Technician is highly desirable.
    • Associates degree or equivalent from a Technical/Trade School with a certificate in HVAC is desirable.
    • A minimum of three years of HVAC field service experience or manufacturing experience in HVAC industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in small spaces.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Requires working in mechanical/equipment rooms and outdoors in possible extreme weather conditions
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment.
