Position Description
Perform production duties and lead others in the assembly (construction) of large sheet metal HVAC equipment casings according to job specifications defined in drawings.
Produce assigned units on time (including single units and orders with multiple units) with the highest possible levels of productivity, quality, and personal safety.
Key Responsibilities
Technical:
- Serve as group leader within the Assembly Department.
- Provide work direction to the team.
- Communicate and reinforce work direction given by supervisor.
- Attend pre-production meetings.
- Cover for absent leads (in other departments) when necessary.
- Help resolve problems that arise related to direct work, schedules, work flow, hindrances, equipment shortages or problems, procedures, methods, and safety.
- Explain procedures and teach others how to perform work tasks
- Provide performance feedback to the Supervisor on assigned seniors, helpers, and basic level employees.
- Lead team to achieve on time delivery of products
- Help coordinate product movement
- Communicate deviations from plan goals to supervisor
- Consistently work toward high quality results.
- Verbally reinforce the importance of quality
- Recognize when work is not being done correctly (before it is a problem), and communicate/recommend changes necessary
- Work alongside team members to assemble HVAC equipment casings.
- Use overhead cranes, power tools, wrenches, levels, etc.
- Perform mathematical calculations involving addition and subtraction of dimensions represented decimally or in fractions.
- Read drawings for design, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Follow manufacturing, materials, and accounting record keeping practices by promptly and accurately logging pertinent information.
- Level base frames.
- Fasten sheet metal onto base frames using mechanical fastener.
- Use drawings to accurately position unit components (heater, fan, etc.) onto base frame.
- Assemble remainder of structural components (dampers, walls, roof, drip edge, doors, etc.) ensuring safety and quality.
Required Education & Qualifications
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Shop courses or equivalent experience is helpful.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years work experience including use of small hand tools in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in assembly of HVAC equipment.
