Position Description

 

This position supports centralized accounting and financial reporting activities for Performance Technologies’ North American business. Responsibilities include general ledger activities, financial analysis and reporting, US GAAP and internal control compliance, and process improvement. The role provides analytical and technical accounting support on complex accounting matters, including researching, documenting, and implementing appropriate accounting treatments. This role interacts with a variety of internal and external customers, including cross-functional teams and business leaders, requiring effective communication across multiple levels of the organization.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support and coordinate monthly and close processes:
    • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
    • Analyze key account activity and prepare explanations for month-over-month variances
    • Key technical accounting responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
      • Lease accounting
      • Inventory-related accounting
      • Commercial Accruals
      • Warranty, Environmental and Contingency Reserves
  • Research and analyze complex and judgmental accounting matters and provide recommendations and support as needed
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and tools to improve efficiency, automation, reporting quality and scalability
  • Ensure compliance with documented accounting controls (Financial Standard Practices)
  • Ensure Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) activities, including segregation-of-duty reviews and access control monitoring
  • Prepare and provide Cash Flow and SEC disclosure information to support external reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and other cross-functional partners, providing accounting analysis and support to inform business decisions
  • Support internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits by preparing requested information, responding to accounting inquiries, and assisting with the research and resolution of audit issues

 

Required Education & Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a technical accounting environment
  • Knowledge of design and execution of internal controls
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Ongoing desire to learn and a commitment to personal development
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Disciplined self-starter with ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Public accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience with SAP ERP and OneStream consolidation systems
  • Experience working in a multinational organization and/or publicly traded company
