Position Description

This leadership position is responsible for managing a team of product engineering supervisors, engineers, and designers. The core focus of this role is to oversee all design activities and outputs of the group, ensuring that departmental resources are prioritized and utilized effectively on a global scale. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers, establishing and standardizing best practices and technical specifications, and interfacing with other departments at a management level to ensure clear communication and alignment. Additionally, this position is responsible for the training, development, and performance evaluation of subordinates to foster their growth and optimize team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to this position are product engineering supervisors, engineers, and designers. 
  • The focus of this position is to oversee the design activity and design output of the group. This position continually monitors, communicates globally, and adjusts departmental activities and resources to ensure product group needs are being prioritized and met in a timely manner. 
  • Develop and maintain appropriate customer and supplier relations. Customer and supplier visits and presentations are necessary. 
  • Establishment of best practices and global standardization of design, engineering, and related technical specifications and procedures. 
  • The position interfaces at a management level with all other departments within Modine to ensure expectations are clearly communicated. 
  • The position is also responsible for training, coordinating training, and evaluating subordinates to ensure optimal employee growth and performance. 

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or related technical discipline) 
  • 8-12 years of engineering plus a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
