Position Description
The Material Planner is responsible for managing complex material planning activities to support efficient and reliable supply chain operations. This role involves analyzing demand trends, optimizing inventory levels, and partnering with suppliers, production teams, and logistics to ensure materials are available to meet production and customer commitments. This position requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of supply chain principles, and the ability to drive improvements across planning processes. Industry certifications are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and execute material planning strategies that align with production schedules and customer demand.
• Utilize forecasting tools, ERP/MRP systems, and analytics to manage inventory levels and minimize excess or obsolete materials.
• Collaborate and negotiate with suppliers to optimize delivery schedules, reduce lead times, and improve supply reliability.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving material flow efficiency and mitigating supply chain risks.
• Support and contribute to cost reduction, process improvement, and continuous improvement projects across the supply chain.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and industry best practices.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field. or HS Diploma or equivalent plus related experience..
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
- APICS CPIM or similar supply chain certification preferred.
