Position Description

  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing, six sigma and 5S to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability and costs.
  • Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products and reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, conferring with equipment vendors, engineering and production personnel.
  • Optimize facility layout, machine operations and material handling.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, equipment layout and space requirements.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer’s instructions and procedures.
  • Partner with the engineering and production groups to ensure engineering standards are followed and updated as required.
  • Work with the manufacturing team on root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions for NCR’s and CAR’s and to resolve issues and delays in production.
  • Participate in JHA creation and reviews for new and existing equipment and tasks.
  • Develop Time and Operation Standards for estimating purposes.
  • Assist in driving APQP, 8D Problem Solving and Corrective Actions through to completion and implementation.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive PM program for all current/new production equipment

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other CI methodologies to improve product quality, process reliability, operational efficiency, and overall manufacturing costs.
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities by analyzing fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment; collaborating closely with equipment vendors, engineering, and production personnel to drive cost reduction and performance enhancement.
  • Optimize facility layout and material flow by designing efficient workstation setups, machine operations, and material‑handling strategies that align with safety, productivity, and ergonomic best practices.
  • Enhance manufacturing efficiency through detailed analysis and planning of workflow, equipment utilization, spatial requirements, and process bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and improve equipment reliability by coordinating preventative maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with OEM instructions, maintenance schedules, and internal safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure engineering standards, drawings, and specifications are properly interpreted, followed, and updated when improvements or corrective actions are required.
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) creation and reviews for new and existing equipment, tools, and work tasks, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop Time and Operational Standards to support accurate estimating, planning, scheduling, and labor forecasting for manufacturing processes.
  • Facilitate APQP, 8D problem-solving, and corrective action processes ensuring timely completion, implementation, validation, and documentation of improvements.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for all existing and newly introduced production equipment, aligning equipment uptime with production targets.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing / mechanical processes and equipment.
  • Lean / Six Sigma knowledge and experience.
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Knowledge of computer or PLC based machine control systems will be considered an asset.
