Position Description

The MP&L Lead is responsible for driving best practices and continuous improvement across Materials Management functions without our Data Center business. This role focuses on advancing standards in SAP processes, warehouse management, inventory optimization, purchasing, and supplier collaboration, ensuring our materials practices are efficient, scalable, and aligned with Modine’s operational and customer requirements. The MP&L Lead will act as a subject matter expert, coach, and change agent across multiple plants, enabling consistency and excellence in MP&L execution.

Key Responsibilities

SAP & Systems Leadership

  • Champion SAP best practices for materials planning, purchasing, and warehouse operations.
  • Support SAP implementation and stabilization at new sites, ensuring accurate master data, streamlined transactions, and training for local teams.
  • Leverage digital platforms (e.g., LeanDNA, Power BI, automation tools) to provide visibility and drive action on shortages, inventory health, and supplier fulfillment.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Define and deploy standards for warehouse operations, including layout optimization, material flows, labeling, and storage strategies.
  • Ensure proper controls for inventory accuracy (cycle counting, reconciliations, audits).
  • Drive improvements in safety stock, min/max levels, and stocking strategies to balance service and working capital.

Purchasing & Supplier Collaboration

  • Partner with Procurement to improve purchasing practices, supplier lead time adherence, and order management.
  • Lead rollout of supplier collaboration tools (e.g., LeanDNA Supplier Connect) to enhance communication and visibility.
  • Establish feedback loops with suppliers to improve responsiveness and reliability

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain standardized MP&L procedures across all plants.
  • Train and mentor plant MP&L teams in materials excellence disciplines.
  • Use Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to reduce waste, improve material availability, and strengthen delivery performance.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities (e.g., RPA, Power Automate) to eliminate non–value-added work.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain Planning, and Procurement to align material practices with customer demand and production needs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects and readiness reviews for new product launches or major configuration changes.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certification strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in supply planning, materials management, or MP&L within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing or influencing across a multi-site network and matrixed organization.
  • Strong proficiency in SAP with hands-on experience in MM, PP, and WM modules.
  • Proven success in leading or supporting ERP implementations, warehouse redesigns, or digital planning initiatives.
