Position Description

Modine is looking for a hardworking, smart, high achieving Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Supervisor with proven experience working in a manufacturing supply chain to lead the purchasing and inventory management needs of our growing HVAC manufacturing company. The MP&L Supervisor’s responsibilities include purchasing materials at the most favorable terms for the organization and coordination on time shipping of finished product. This role will qualify vendors, evaluate proposals, track purchases and negotiate prices and terms for purchased components. The MP&L Supervisor is responsible for receiving and moving materials within warehouse, issuing materials from the warehouse and verifying proper inventory levels are maintained accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attention to detail in maintaining accurate inventory levels, locations, purchase orders and component pricing
  • Attention to detail in assembling orders from inventory, based on demand from works order and bill of materials
  • Enable production team to achieve on time shipping goals
  • Inventory accuracy at 95% or better
  • Accurate information in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for items and inventory
  • Materials are purchased at best cost, highest quality and in time for production needs
  • Multiple qualified vendors for purchased components
  • Plans and monitors optimal space utilization and efficient inventory flow of warehouse
  • Promotes high inventory turns, to reduce inventory dollars, while minimizing stock outs
  • Creates and generates internal management reports to track performance and costs related to, inventory, transportation, cost savings, production and sales.
  • Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends solutions.
  • Lead any recovery actions necessary due to unplanned events in supply chain.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of proven experience working in a manufacturing, supply chain environment either as a Buyer, Purchasing Agent, or similar role
  • Ability to negotiate favorable contracts, pricing and payment terms while maintaining positive relationship with vendors
  • Ability to work in both hands-on and office environments
  • Ability to coach and develop employees

  • Ability to deal with multiple levels of people effectively, in group and individual settings
  • Ability to effectively deal with vendors, suppliers, and customers

  • Familiarity with ERP software

  • Proficient with organizing and processing large amounts of data

  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge, including Excel, Outlook
