Position Description
The Material Coordinator is vital in supporting production and supply chain operations by maintaining accurate inventory levels, ensuring timely material movement, and driving inventory control improvements. This position requires close coordination with Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Logistics to ensure optimal material availability that supports production efficiency and meets customer delivery expectations. A key focus of this role is executing and enhancing cycle counting programs and implementing best practices to improve overall inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate the timely inflow, movement, and outflow of materials throughout receiving, kitting, staging, production, shipping, and warehouse areas.
• Monitor, maintain, and reconcile inventory transactions within the ERP system to ensure real-time accuracy.
• Plan, schedule, and execute cycle counts across various inventory locations, including raw materials, WIP (Work in Progress), and finished goods.
• Identify and analyze inventory variances and lead efforts to investigate root causes, such as transactional errors, physical handling issues, or process gaps.
• Collaborate with team leads, warehouse personnel, and production supervisors to resolve discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, such as item-level accuracy, dollar variance, and root cause resolution rates.
• Implement and enforce best practices for inventory control, including proper labeling, storage, part segregation, and transaction discipline.
• Conduct bin-to-bin audits, location validations, and empty location clean-ups to improve warehouse accuracy and organization.
• Present inventory performance metrics and material flow updates to management for decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Lean warehousing, Kanban restocking, and material staging optimization.
• Collaborate on physical inventory events and audits to ensure alignment with accounting and operational standards.
• Assist with inbound receiving, outbound shipping, and inventory transfers to ensure operational continuity.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education & Qualifications
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with cross-functional teams.
• High attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and fundamental data analysis (pivot tables, v-lookups, graphs, etc.).
• Experience using ERP and inventory management systems; SAP knowledge strongly preferred.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions independently.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and managing multiple priorities.
