Position Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. You will participate in the manufacturing and assembly of industry leading HVAC chillers. The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer is to implement and support manufacturing process that result in high-quality products. The incumbent investigates alternative solutions for given Manufacturing Improvement projects, develops cost information for each, and recommends the best solution to the Engineering department head. This job requires being immersed, on-site, in the manufacturing facility and driving improvements within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing problems and develop alternative solutions via Design for Manufacturing feedback to Engineering.
  • Specify equipment to satisfy manufacturing/production needs and design custom equipment when items are not commercially available.
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes for equipment and services needed to continuously improve the manufacturing process and facility. Initiate PO processes and track spending authorization for capital expenditure projects.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance/repair services and ensure manufacturer’s procedures and best industry practices are followed to maximize machine OEE.
  • Analyze/plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Design and implement fixtures and special application tools to increase efficiency and safety of manufacturing processes.
  • Implement new product launch and change order activities to ensure the plant builds what is intended by Design Engineering.
  • Use of visual management to communicate metrics related to Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
  • Use lean principles and 5S knowledge to keep manufacturing running as optimally as possible.
  • Support and remain committed to plant safety.
  • Supports manufacturing with understanding and application of various plant-specific software

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Mechanical Engineering a plus
  • 0-3 years of engineering experience; 3-5 years of Manufacturing Engineer experience preferred
  • Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics
  • Knowledge of heat transfer and related sciences (BONUS)
  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC, particularly air-air and/or air-water chillers (BONUS)
