Position Description
Reporting to the General Manager, the Field Service Technician will provide post-sale field technical support to our Building HVAC customers and channel partners. This will include product startups, warranty, quality, application and service issues. You will feed relevant information back to us and implement corrective action based on data analysis to reduce future service issues.
Key Responsibilities
• As a Modine ambassador, travel to customer installation sites to investigate, troubleshoot, identify, and correct product and application problems. Train equipment owner personnel on proper maintenance schedules and procedures. Provide startup, technical and service support and document all details of installation and application in appropriate systems
• Communicate with our customers and channel partners to determine root cause of product problems and recommend corrective action. Capture all information related to quality, warranty, service, installation and application of Modine products in contact reporting system
• Analyze field service concerns, warranty and return goods claims and recommend corrective action or propose design improvements.
• Communicate field service concerns and proposed design changes to your supervisor.
• Populate the division warranty information gathering system through dialogue with customers, contractors, engineers, and representatives to capture information relative to the installation and application of Modine products.
• Employ Modine's MOS/MPS principles toward constant process improvement projects
• Participate in the preparation and presentation of service training programs to sales representatives, distributors, engineers and contractors
• When not on field service visits, responsible for answering troubleshooting calls through our dedicated call center.
Required Education & Qualifications
• 3+ years of product reliability or service experience required
• Can diplomatically resolve problems and project the appropriate company image while working with customers
• Have a working knowledge of product manufacturing, operation, and application
• EPA Type II Certification required (Universal EPA preferred), must provide copy of certification.
• Applicable HVAC license preferred
• A two-year technical degree in HVAC or related discipline preferred (Substantial technical experience may substitute for a degree).
Physical Requirements:
FIELD SERVICE (80%)
Outdoor temperatures (above 100 degrees; below 32 degrees F), walking on slippery or uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, working off elevated surfaces, some after-hours activity
OFFICE (20%):
Work primarily in an environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
Travel:
Up to 85% travel (including land and air travel). Will require frequent trips and multiple nights away from home.
