Position Description

Performs a variety of electrical repair work for existing equipment and installs new equipment as required.  Works with sophisticated measuring instructions to troubleshoot and repair any electrical malfunctions found in the plant facility.  Must possess a thorough working knowledge of electrical repair procedures including the ability to work from schematics, drawings, or sketches and modify same to include alterations as required.  Performs routine maintenance on solid state controls.  All work must conform to the latest applicable National Electric Code and plant safety requirements.  Performs limited mechanical work as required.  Assists Electrician A as necessary.  Works closely with other maintenance personnel.  Works from written work orders or from Supervisor’s directives.  Implements safety lockout procedure when performing electrical maintenance work.  Reports improper equipment operation to Supervisor.  Due to the changing nature of maintenance work, must be able to complete any workshops, seminars, etc. as deemed necessary.  Records time and production and performs other duties as required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Performs a variety of electrical repair work for existing equipment and installs new equipment as required.
  2. Works with sophisticated measuring instruments to troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions found in the plant facility.
  3. Works from electrical prints, schematics, etc., which includes reading, adding to, and deleting from record any modifications to circuits as required.
  4. Ensures that all electrical work conforms to the National Electric Code and plant safety requirements.
  5. Uses safety lockout procedure when performing electrical maintenance work.
  6. Performs routine maintenance on solid state controls.
  7. Performs mechanical work as required.
  8. Works from written work orders or from Supervisor’s directives.
  9. Uses a variety of tools including powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks, overhead hoists, and welding equipment.
  10. Assists Electrician A as necessary, and works closely with other maintenance mechanics.

Required Education & Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
