Position Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Electrical Design Engineer to work as part of the Controls Department based in Leeds.

Key Responsibilities

Key accountabilities for this role include:

  • Learning from more senior engineers a new highly sought after skill set
  • Working with a dedicated mentor
  • Minor drawing modifications leading to more complex work based on skills gained
  • Working with the shop floor & external team on projects modified as above to provide feedback on design
  • Processing internal order amendments
  • Processing purchase requisitions
  • Liaising with the panel shop team regarding consumables

Required Education & Qualifications

  • The successful candidate should have the following skills

Essential

  • A*-C in Math and Science at GCSE
  • A keen interest in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Building Management Systems (BMS) and building services.
  • The ability to think critically and objectively.
  • Positive mindset towards learning
  • Be on, or on a pathway, to gaining engineering qualifications.
  • Initiative and can-do attitude
  • Team player

Desirable

  • Previous experience with a CAD package
  • Any extra curricular activities that have an engineering/design basis

Training will be provided for the right applicant to develop the skills and knowledge required for the position. This will also involve attending college likely on a day release basis. Further details will be discussed with the candidate at interview.
