Position Description
Responsible for a variety of manufacturing projects related to new process and product development, introduction and re-engineering of existing products and processes to ensure they are cost effective and compatible with our existing and/or new processes. Responsible for driving and implementing Lean Manufacturing Principles and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop new processes and improve existing processes
- Develop cost efficient, quality manufacturing equipment and processes
- Coordinate the installation of the equipment and processes
- Design or direct the design of new tooling and equipment
- Manage various project(s) to ensure timely completion
- Work closely with design engineering and estimating to ensure the design is economically justified, cost effective, and compatible with the manufacturing capabilities of the pant in which the product is scheduled to be built
- Investigates production problems at an assigned plant and interfaces with a variety of areas before recommending a solution
- Support cross functional teams in the areas of New Product Launches, Value Analysis, Problem Solving, and Process Analysis
- Writes Machine/Equipment/Tooling Specifications for design and purchase of equipment, ensures the start-up of the equipment/tooling, process capability, and process control
- Selects and experiments with new materials and solves machine set up and/or repair problems
- Utilize and implement principles of Lean Manufacturing
Required Education & Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recent college graduate in mechanical engineering or related technology degree without benefit of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment. Works in conjunction with Sr. Mfg./Principal/Senior Principal Engineers and participates in projects for exposure and practical application of theory in work situations. Under direct supervision of department head or department personnel. Basis of accountability: Indeterminate
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors of Science in Engineering or related technology degree
TRAVEL:
- Frequent travel to manufacturing plant locations, vendors, and customers is required (20-40%)
