Position Description

We are looking for a highly skilled MRO Buyer to join our dynamic supply chain team at Modine.  In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in purchasing, supplier relationships and inventory management to optimize our supply chain and ensure a seamless flow of materials to support our operational goals. You will be instrumental in developing strategic sourcing initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet the evolving demands of our business. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain responsibility for monitoring/creating purchase requisitions, on a daily basis, for appropriate vendors through SAP/Oracle-MRP system, and converting requisitions to purchase orders.
  • Manage the purchase of materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for maintenance and operations.  This includes researching suppliers, negotiating prices, and placing orders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of products.  This includes tracking orders and managing inventory for non-stock maintenance items.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure that critical items are always in stock to prevent operational disruptions.  This includes tracking orders and managing inventory for non-stock maintenance items.
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-savings opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses while maintaining quality standards.
  • Prepare purchase orders, invoices, and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.  This also includes maintaining accurate records of purchases and supplier agreements.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as engineering and production, to forecast needs and make informed purchasing decisions based on demand.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a track record of successful supplier relationship management.
  • Must be a proven problem solver.
  • Must bring positive energy to the role and support the rapid needs of the factory.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights to improve purchasing strategies
  • Act as frontline supplier manager for the supply base related to product line
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) are a plus
