Position Description
The Engineering Technician provides technical support to engineering teams by assisting with testing, troubleshooting, data collection, and implementation of engineering solutions. This role applies practical technical knowledge to support product development, manufacturing, or operational initiatives. The Engineering Technician works closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure equipment and systems operate effectively. This position plays a key role in translating engineering designs into real-world applications and maintaining reliable performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineers with setup, testing, and validation of equipment, components, or systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues using diagnostic tools and established procedures.
- Collect, record, and analyze operational or test data to support engineering decisions.
- Support prototype builds, equipment installations, and system modifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on equipment or instrumentation.
- Document technical activities, test results, and system updates.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance teams to resolve technical problems.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Required Education & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in engineering support, technical operations, or a related hands-on technical role.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
- Experience using diagnostic and measurement tools (e.g., multimeters, gauges, data acquisition systems).
- Familiarity with testing, troubleshooting, and equipment setup procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced technical environment.
- Experience in manufacturing, laboratory, or field service environments preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced technical certifications preferred.
