Position Description
The welding assembler role will be dedicated to a particular department on the assembly line performing welding work when needed. When welding work is not needed, this person will assist with general assembly within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and weld commercial and industrial assemblies/fabrications related to HVAC units and supporting equipment
- Perform welding operations on multiple materials, including:
- Carbon and structural steel using MIG (GMAW)
- Aluminum using a MIG spool gun
- Thin gauge stainless steel using TIG (GTAW)
- This gauge stainless steel using MIG (GMAW)
- Accurately read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine part orientation, weld symbols, dimensions, and assembly layout
- Ensure precise fit up, layout, and weld quality to meet print requirements and company standards
- Work closely with the Lead Welder or Supervisor to meet standard operating procedures, production schedules, and quality expectations
- Maintain a safe and organized work area while following all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Inspect welds for accuracy and quality and make adjustments or repairs as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by a member of management.
Required Education & Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs without assistance
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 2-3 hours
- Ability to reach over shoulders/head
- Ability to bend at waist and knees
- Ability to twist at shoulders/waist
- Familiar with tools
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma of GED required.
