Position Description

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on MP&L Manager to lead all materials, planning, and logistics functions for a new air handling unit production facility. This role is critical to establishing and scaling supply chain operations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in materials management, production planning, and logistics coordination, with a strong understanding of plant start-up dynamics.


As part of an 80/20-driven organization, the MP&L Manager will focus on simplifying complexity, prioritizing high-impact activities, and building agile systems to support rapid ramp-ups and operational excellence.

 

Travel requirements for this role will start at 50% (traveling to Calgary, Canada twice per month) and decrease to 10% as our Franklin, WI plant ramps up to production by end of calendar 2025.  After the Franklin plant is occupied, intermittent travel will be required to meet with customers, suppliers, other facilities, and Regional and Corporate meetings.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Start-Up & Supply Chain Setup

  • Lead the development and implementation of MP&L processes, systems, and infrastructure for a new manufacturing site.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure supply chain readiness for production launch.
  • Establish inventory control procedures, material flow strategies, and logistics frameworks tailored to start-up needs.

 

Materials Management

  • Oversee inbound and outbound material flow, ensuring timely delivery and accurate inventory levels.
  • Manage receiving, warehousing, and material handling operations to support production schedules.
  • Implement and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and system controls.

 

Production Planning

  • Develop and maintain production schedules aligned with demand forecasts, capacity, and material availability.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize scheduling and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and adjust plans to respond to changes in demand, supply disruptions, or operational constraints.

 

Inventory Management

  • Develop and manage inventory control processes to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
  • Monitor inventory performance and provide regular reports to the Plant Manager.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with inventory management.

 

Cost Reduction and Efficiency

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective materials management strategies.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the supply chain.
  • Monitor cost performance and adjust strategies as needed to ensure success.

 

Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and lead a high-performing MP&L team, including material planners, production schedulers, and logistics staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles and 80/20 methodology.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, cost, and service levels.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering or a related field;
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in materials, planning, and logistics roles within manufacturing (HVAC or industrial equipment preferred).
  • 3 years of MP&L Manager, Materials Manager or equivalent experience
  • Proven success in leading MP&L functions in a plant start-up or high-growth environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems, inventory control, and production planning tools.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, 80/20 principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
