Position Description
The Facilities Manager reports to the Plant Manager and plans, coordinates, and directs the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all facility infrastructure and related mechanical systems. The Facilities Manager is responsible for:
- Leading ways to improve equipment up-time
- Implementing preventative maintenance improvement
- Supervising and training facilities engineers and hourly maintenance/janitorial employees. Supervisory responsibility for hourly employees, including hire, motivating, counseling, discipline and discharge activities.
- Maintaining a safe work environment
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and functionality of the equipment and buildings, ensuring safety, compliance with regulations, and efficient operations by managing repairs, cleaning, managing budgets, and supervising staff related to facility operations, including security, HVAC systems, and groundskeeping.
- Drive and ensure industry maintenance and engineering standards
- Plan and manage annual projects and budgets
- Ensure and execute people development plan to keep up team members motivated
- Focus on the continuous improvement for future efficiency and cost reduction
- Participates and leads Lean Six Sigma improvement projects
- Coordinate day to day activities of facility maintenance staff and outside contractors to balance staffing and workflow that will eliminate bottlenecks that hinder plant operations
- Manage related service contracts and annual vendor reviews (benchmarking)
- Maintain building and grounds
- Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
- Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment
- Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
- Ensures employees adhere to all company policies, procedures and standards
- Maintain safety / OSHA standards, and hazardous material regulations
- Manage offsite production and storage facilities
- Maintain site Environmental Management System
Required Education & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required and minimum 4 years of Facilities Management or Manufacturing Engineering experience
- Incumbent must have excellent verbal and written skills, experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and good organizational skills
- Prior experience with Lean Six Sigma principles, knowledge in technical manuals, shop drawings and schematics required
- Must have solid project management and leadership skills
