Position Description
Reporting to the VP/GM, Heavy Duty Equipment (HDE), the Director, Materials Planning & Logistics (MP&L) will lead the materials planning, inventory management, logistics, and SIOP strategy for the HDE segment at Modine. The primary objective of this role is to drive supply chain performance, operational excellence, and profitability by improving supply continuity, planning discipline, inventory optimization, and cross-functional execution across the HDE business. This will be accomplished by building the strategy, team structure, and guiding processes for materials management across the business unit.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is eager to drive supplier accountability, planning discipline, material flow, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Build the process for hiring, developing, and certifying a world-class materials planning, demand planning, and SIOP team to support execution of the long-term HDE strategy.
- Create the roadmap and partner with IT to drive supply chain digital transformation initiatives that improve visibility, planning accuracy, and execution.
- Develop the Supply Planning team to optimize inventory levels and material flow across the HDE manufacturing network.
- Integrate with Continuous Improvement teams to drive material flow excellence throughout HDE operations.
Planning Excellence
Responsible for creating a structured planning, training, and organizational development process to enhance planning capabilities and improve factory performance across the HDE business.
Inventory Strategy
Create an end-to-end inventory management strategy for raw material, WIP, and finished goods, along with a network optimization process that leverages customer demand data and industry-standard PFEP methodologies to improve service, inventory performance, and cash flow.
SIOP Leadership
Build and lead the implementation of a functional, simplified, and standardized SIOP process for HDE, including the development and deployment of an integrated process spanning portfolio management, demand planning, and supply planning across HDE facilities and functional teams.

Centralized Planning
Develop the strategy and deploy a centralized planning organization that supports HDE facilities by managing common suppliers and critical supply streams through a Supplier Fulfillment Leader (SFL) structure, driving accountability, visibility, and responsiveness within the supply chain.

Operations Master Data Management Standards
Collaborate with sourcing, operations, finance, and IT teams to establish and maintain SAP master data governance standards, ensuring planning-critical data remains accurate and supports planning and optimization efforts.
Short-Term Supply & Demand Synchronization
Develop systems and processes across HDE sites to ensure alignment between customer demand, supplier capacity, and production schedules while improving forecast accuracy and supplier collaboration.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience leading materials planning, supply planning, demand planning, SIOP, and/or logistics functions within a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing salaried and hourly teams.
- Demonstrated application and experience across multiple supply chain disciplines, including materials planning/PFEP, production control, tactical purchasing, inventory control, demand planning, and master data management.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced analytical, presentation, and data management capabilities.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop teams across multiple locations.
- Strong problem-solving and change leadership skills.
- APICS/CPIM or similar industry-standard materials process certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience preferred.

The salary range for this position is estimated in good faith to be $152,000 - $200,000. The specific offer will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related considerations but will be within the stated range.
