Position Description
Modine is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co‑op / Intern to join our Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team, supporting operations for data center cooling products at our Grand Prairie, Texas facility.
This role focuses on the industrialization and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes involving sheet metal fabrication, copper brazing, heavy mechanical assembly, pressure testing, and end‑of‑line testing. The co‑op will work closely with manufacturing engineers, plant operations, and cross‑functional teams to support new equipment, tooling, and product launching. This is a full‑time, temporary assignment for the summer and fall semesters, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
Complete projects and tasks related to supporting manufacturing engineers with various activities such as:
- Support development and optimization of manufacturing processes for data center cooling products.
- Assist in creating or modifying engineering specifications and process documentation.
- Improve engineering tools, templates, and workflows to enhance ME efficiency.
- Participate in tooling and equipment acquisition for sheet metal, copper brazing, and assembly operations.
- Support validation, testing, and capability studies for new equipment and tooling.
- Assist with project timeline development and adherence.
- Contribute to launch readiness activities.
- Conduct process trials, part experiments, and testing activities.
- Perform hands‑on tasks related to equipment setup, tooling fabrication, or prototype builds.
- Participate in structured problem‑solving activities with ME and plant teams.
- Gain familiarity with Modine’s data center product portfolio and manufacturing technologies.
- Assist in reducing process variation and improving repeatability across fabrication and assembly operations.
- Collect and analyze production data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Must have sophomore standing or higher in an engineering degree program (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related).
- Strong foundational engineering skills and analytical mindset.
- Basic 3D solid modeling and drawing experience (SolidEdge, Solidworks and Autocad).
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable working in a hands on manufacturing environment.
- Self-motivated, eager to learn, and proactive in problem solving.
- Strong decision making abilities and attention to detail.
- Commitment to quality and safety.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight stays.
