Position Description
Scott Springfield by Modine (“SSM”) is a tier-1 supplier that offers scalable air handling solutions for commercial, institutional, and industrial customers across North America. SSM’s leadership team has intentionally created a workplace culture that puts customers first, and values teamwork, innovation and accountability. SSM has garnered a hard-earned reputation for customer service, quality and reliability. Supported by a network of independent sales agents across North America, SSM operates out of our Portland Street SE factory in Calgary, AB.
To support its growth and expansion, SSM is looking to add a Technical Sales Engineer – Custom AHU’s, to the team. This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer with HVAC design experience who enjoys applying their technical expertise in a collaborative, project-driven environment. In this position, you will develop deep expertise in custom air handling systems and work closely with our independent sales representatives to help position SSM solutions with consulting engineers. You will be relied upon for your creative problem-solving skills and your ability to apply sound AHU design practices to real-world project challenges.
Candidates who have experience with equipment selections, reviewing submittals, and coordinating with manufacturers will transition especially well into this role.
This role will be based at our 2234 Portland St SE location in Calgary Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service and technical product support to the assigned territory.
- Support reps in positioning SSM custom AHU solutions with consulting engineers and end users.
- Provide technical insight to help rep partners pursue and win project opportunities.
- Drive sales volume and meet or exceed profitability expectations.
- Interface and coordinate the unique needs and requirements of the customer, territory and internal Engineering and Production teams.
- Periodically travel to the customers’ sales office located throughout North America to provide sales support.
- Host customers for factory visits.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a highly technical HVAC environment, such as a mechanical consulting engineering firm, HVAC manufacturer, or engineered equipment supplier.
- Strong understanding of HVAC system design, including air handling units, fans, coils, and controls.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Superior problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to inspire and engage others to achieve success as a team.
