Position Description
The Supervisor oversees daily production involving PRIMA and SNB machines. This role supervises machine operators, ensures equipment is operating according to standards, maintains production quality, and coordinates workflows for efficient, timely output.
Key Responsibilities
Supervisory & Leadership Duties
• Supervise machine operators who set up and operate printing/bindery machinery, ensuring output meets specifications.
• Prepare work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor performance and productivity.
• Train new and existing staff on machine operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
• Maintain positive employee relations and ensure effective communication within the team.
Machine Operation Oversight (PRIMA & SNB)
• Oversee machine setup, operation, adjustments, and production changeovers.
• Ensure operators load materials properly, adjust systems as needed, and follow work orders.
• Monitor production runs for mechanical issues, quality defects, and alignment accuracy.
• Ensure machines and components are calibrated and functioning properly.
Quality Control
• Perform first piece inspections and verify all products meet client and company quality standards.
• Oversee ongoing quality checks working closely with the Quality team.
• Ensure corrective actions are taken for defects or inconsistencies during production.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Ensure operators follow routine maintenance schedules: lubrication, cleaning, part replacement.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues, diagnose malfunctions, and coordinate repairs.
• Report mechanical issues such as abnormal noises, wear, or system faults to management.
Production & Administrative Duties
• Track production data: job specifications, material usage, output quality, and downtime occurrences.
• Ensure jobs are completed on time.
• Apply best practices to reduce waste and optimize workflow efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols, ensuring proper PPE usage and safe machine operation.
• Ensure operators follow lockout/tagout procedures, hazard communication rules, and ergonomic lifting methods.
Required Education & Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in machine operation; supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Knowledge in operating the PRIMA and SNB workflows.
• Ability to read job tickets, technical instructions, and production specifications.
• High attention to detail and quality standards.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required.
• Manual dexterity and ability to work with various materials and machine components.
