Position Description
- Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing, six sigma and 5S to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability and costs.
- Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products and reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, conferring with equipment vendors, engineering and production personnel.
- Optimize facility layout, machine operations and material handling.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, equipment layout and space requirements.
- Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer’s instructions and procedures.
- Partner with the engineering and production groups to ensure engineering standards are followed and updated as required.
- Work with the manufacturing team on root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions for NCR’s and CAR’s and to resolve issues and delays in production.
- Participate in JHA creation and reviews for new and existing equipment and tasks.
- Develop Time and Operation Standards for estimating purposes.
- Assist in driving APQP, 8D Problem Solving and Corrective Actions through to completion and implementation.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive PM program for all current/new production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other CI methodologies to enhance production quality, reliability, throughput, and overall cost performance.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements by leveraging expertise in fabrication methods, tooling design, production equipment capabilities, and stakeholder input, including engineering, production, and vendor partners.
- Optimize factory operations through strategic planning of facility layouts, machine utilization, and material handling systems to maximize workflow efficiency and minimize waste.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing process flow, determining equipment and space requirements, and developing data‑driven recommendations for operational enhancements.
- Ensure equipment reliability by coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities, adhering to manufacturer guidelines, and supporting troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to uphold engineering standards, support design for manufacturability, and ensure documentation is current and accurate.
- Lead and support root cause investigations for NCRs, CARs, and production delays, using structured problem‑solving methodologies to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) development and reviews for new and existing equipment, ensuring safe and compliant production practices.
- Establish and maintain Time & Operation Standards for accurate labor estimating, capacity planning, and production forecasting.
- Support APQP, 8D, and corrective action processes by driving tasks to completion and ensuring robust implementation across operations.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) program for all existing and new manufacturing equipment to enhance reliability and extend asset life.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum +3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of manufacturing / mechanical processes and equipment.
- Lean / Six Sigma knowledge and experience.
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Solid project management skills.
- Knowledge of computer or PLC based machine control systems will be considered an asset.
