Position Description
The Housing Lead Hand is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and coordination of the Housing production team. This role ensures that production activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with quality standards, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Morning Shift - 6:00AM - 2:30PM - Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of up to 15 manufacturing team members to meet production schedules, quality requirements, and safety expectations.
- Attend and actively participate in scheduled weekly meetings to review production priorities, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with Production Support and Engineering teams to obtain and interpret technical documentation, including drawings, work travelers, and production plans.
- Coordinate material requirements with the Purchasing department to ensure uninterrupted production flow and on-time availability of components.
- Oversee production inspection processes to ensure adherence to internal and customer quality standards.
- Partner with the Quality team to address non-conformance issues, raise non-compliance reports, and support corrective actions for defective or damaged parts.
- Participate in rectifying production snags and ensure quality alerts and corrective actions are clearly communicated to team members.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and implement best practices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layouts and production requirements.
- Promote and enforce safety policies and procedures, including conducting toolbox meetings and escalating safety concerns to the Safety team as required.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities, ensuring smooth transitions between tasks without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support successful project completion and strengthen interdepartmental relationships.
- Contribute to employee performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and distribution of materials or parts from the warehouse, including garbage bin disposal, using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production leadership role, preferably within an industrial or HVAC-related environment.
- Proven supervisory or lead hand experience supporting teams of 10+ employees.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Safety.
- Knowledge of quality inspection processes and non-conformance reporting.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
