Position Description
Key Responsibilities
Accountable for assessing, developing, implementing and managing the corporate safety program in partnership with the existing team, namely:
- Lead the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of the current safety program; ensuring consistency within the company and compliance with legislation
- Develop strategies that support growth of the safety function and enhance safety practices and performance; provide recommendations on how to improve
- alignment with the overall strategy
- Perform site visits to each facility to provide support and direction to the existing HSE team
- Manage the company’s WCB program, including ensuring PDAs and modified work opportunities exist for all roles
- Oversee all audits, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements
- Analyze safety statistics to proactively identify areas of opportunity; advising the Leadership Team of safety issues and trends
- Liaise with all required regulatory agencies to stay apprised of regulatory laws
- Develop and maintain relevant external partnerships to share best practice information
Required Education & Qualifications
- Post-secondary training in a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- COR audit experience
- Advanced knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices and techniques pertaining to WCB, including claims management and return to work programs
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
