Position Description

The Data Center Field Services Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing field commissioning and start-up activities for mission-critical HVAC equipment across North America. Acting as the primary liaison between customers, field service teams, subcontractors, manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams, this role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to customer expectations from factory testing through project closeout.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead commissioning and start-up activities for data center HVAC projects.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, resource requirements, and project milestones.
  • Coordinate field service teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and drive issue resolution to maintain schedule and customer commitments.
  • Ensure commissioning documentation, reports, and project closeout deliverables are completed accurately and on time.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary customer contact during commissioning, start-up, and warranty phases.
  • Provide regular project updates and facilitate communication between customers, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Escalate critical issues as needed and support continuous improvement through lessons learned and customer feedback.

Technical & Commissioning Leadership

  • Oversee commissioning processes to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Review commissioning scopes of work and support factory witness testing as required.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Service teams to resolve technical issues and improve project execution.

Warranty & Risk Management

  • Coordinate investigation and resolution of warranty claims, commissioning deficiencies, and field performance issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Identify project risks proactively and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC manufacturing, field service, commissioning, project management, or a related industry.
  • Experience with mission-critical, data center, or large commercial HVAC systems is a strong asset.
  • Technical training or Journeyman certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, or a related trade.
  • Experience coordinating projects, schedules, resources, and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical drawings, submittals, and IOM documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tracking tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout North America.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification or formal project management training.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and customer-facing commissioning projects.
  • Knowledge of data center or mission-critical commissioning practices.
