Position Description

Scott Springfield by Modine is tier-1 supplier that offers scalable air handling solutions for commercial and industrial customers across North America.  SSM’s leadership team have intentionally created a workplace culture that puts customers first, and values teamwork, innovation and accountability.  SSM has garnered a hard-earned reputation for customer service, quality and reliability. To support its growth, SSM is looking to add a CAD Designer to the team.This position reports to the Lead Designer.

This role will be based at our 2234 Portland St SE location in Calgary Alberta, Canada.

Key Responsibilities

The Designer will provide 2D and 3D CAD modeling, detailed drawing documentation and advance level design support for multiple projects at the same time, including new and existing applications. The candidate may communicate directly with the production team, Modine suppliers or Modine facilities.

The Designer will also be in charge of creating approval drawings, shop floor detailed drawings, bill of materials, upload drawings to PDM system and support the routing process.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Training in Mechanical Design or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Design experience with 3D modeling in SolidEdge, IronCAD, or Autocad .
  • Ability to provide clarity of presentation and conformance to Standard Practices & Work Instructions.
  • Intermediate level of experience in 3D modeling.
  • Prior working knowledge with sheet metal modeling and detailing would be an asset but not a requirement.
  • Ability to design and detail electromechanical drawings from sketches with limited information.
  • Experience in handling 3D large model assemblies.
  • Ability in use of computer applications such as text documents, e-mail, scheduling, Bill of Materials and routings.
  • Ability in design activity with consideration to clearances, component fit and function, ease of manufacturing, safety, customer needs and expectations.
  • Proven ability to resolve design problems independently.
  • Degree or diploma in mechanical design or related technical discipline.
