Position Description
As an Apprentice Welder, you will work alongside a Journeyman Welder as part of a collaborative welding team. You will be responsible for performing FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) on light‑gauge steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. This role involves supporting daily welding operations, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.
Shift Schedule:
🕕 Morning Shift — 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
📅 Monday to Friday
Required Education & Qualifications
- Proven experience with welding using FCAW and GMAW
- Ability to accurately read drawings.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Open to overtime on weekdays and/or weekends, when required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Experience using shears and press brakes will be considered an asset. Must follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe‑work practices at all times.
- Consistent use of required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Ability to maintain a clean and hazard‑free work area, including proper handling and storage of tools and materials.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and safe handling of gases, welding consumables, and hazardous materials.
- Understanding of safe operation of welding equipment and ability to identify potential hazards before starting work.
- Commitment to reporting unsafe conditions, near‑misses, or equipment issues immediately.
- Ability to follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when required.
- Demonstrated awareness of fire safety and use of welding screens, ventilation, and spark‑containment practices.
Safety Requirement - Respirator Use:
- This position may involve tasks requiring the use of a respirator. In accordance with occupational health and safety standards, all employees must be clean-shaven where the respirator seals to the face to ensure proper fit and protection. Compliance with this requirement is mandatory for employment in this role.
