Position Description
We are currently recruiting to fill a Lab Technician position with our Modine Heating team in Buena Vista, VA. This position is responsible for setting up and testing equipment, maintaining and using calibrated equipment for data measurement, and compiling reports with test results. This opportunity is be a full-time, salaried non-exempt position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform tests per Laboratory Work Order (LWO) according to the written work instructions.
- Setup and perform computer/data acquisition
- Assist with measurement system calibration
- Ensure compliance of test systems with electrical safe work practices, hazard identification / remediation, and OSHA requirements in support of zero incident safety culture. Identify potential safety hazards and provide input into the remediation process, ensuring equipment functionality meets required specifications
- Interpret industry safety testing standards (UL, ETL, NFPA) applicable to the products, and assure alignment with internal safety, test and quality standards, product specifications and procedures.
- Assist Quality and Engineering teams in internal and customer return product failure analysis.
- Generate test reports
- Manage test articles and parts
Required Education & Qualifications
- Associate Degree in a technical discipline preferred plus 4-8 years of technical work experience, or 7-11 years equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
- A good understanding of commercial HVAC&R design and operation, fixture design and fabrication, instrumentation and data acquisition, as well as the principles of laboratory measurement
- Individuals could have several jobs being performed simultaneously and should have the ability to multi-task and manage their activities in a quality driven yet time-sensitive environment
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with instrumentation and calibration methods
- Computer skills for spreadsheet, word processing, data entry, file management, and reporting
- Good verbal and written communication skills
