Position Description
As part of Bradford’s development towards sheet metal self-sufficiency an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Punching Centre Operator reporting to the Sheet Metal Department Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
- To operate an Amada sheet metal punch centre combined with a loading tower and automated part picker to achieve output, efficiency and quality targets
- To conduct tool changes and tool maintenance
- To ensure completed work is checked off, identified and passed on to folding in a controlled and organised manner
- To record output and quality information as specified
- To support the Sheet Metal Team leader and Machine Programmer in problem solving and continuous improvement activities relating to the punch centre
- To ensure all safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times and to contribute to building a safety first culture in the department
- To contribute to the general maintenance of the sheet metal department by conducting basic maintenance, 5S and cleaning activities
Required Education & Qualifications
- Knowledge and extensive practical experience operating an automated sheet metal punching centre
- Punch tool changeover
- Punch tool maintenance
- The desire to help construct a sheet metal department from scratch with an open mind to new innovative methods
- Ability to work independently and with initiative to achieve production targets
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Evidence of an inquisitive nature and spirit of continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills and the ability and desire to work as part of a team
- Excellent IT skills
Day shift - 6am to 2.30pm Monday to Thursday and 6am to 11.40am Friday
Training will be provided for the right applicant to develop the skills & knowledge required for the position.
